Early Elan Service Manual - now available for download

PostPost by: M100 » Fri Mar 31, 2006 6:48 pm

Just a quick note to say the error in the filename has been pointed
out. I've just revised the index and document properties and renamed
the file and started uploading. The new version will hopefully be
available in about and hour and a half and I'll let you know the new
download details then. So if you've not already downloaded the file
could you please hang on for a while. I'll delete the incorrectly
named file tomorrow sometime.

That's a really useful document.
I have the later workshop and service parts manuals but these early ones
have some much better diagrams.
Many thanks.

Paul Adamson.

It's been a long while coming (nearly 2 years!) but the early Elan
service manual is now available for download.

http://216.92.98.7/Elan_26_36_Service_Manual.pdf (41.5MB file)

The early parts manual is still available from

http://lotusfaq.org/Elan/Documents/Elan ... tslist.pdf
(15 MB file)

To view and print these files you will need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 as a
minimum (or another compatible pdf file viewer)

If you happen to find any indexing errors or unclear scanned areas then
let me know by email and I'll correct and repost.

As before, anyone thinking putting these files on a CD and selling on
Ebay will be tracked down and a three week old kipper placed in their
heater duct and a potato stuffed up their car's exhaust :-)

Free use and distribution by any Elan owners is however encouraged.

Is there a similar manual available for download for the 1969 S4
somewhere?

Where, exactly, can I get an S4 manual from lotus, and is this the
official manual or an aftermarket version? I am in the New York City
area, so I am not familiar with places in the UK.

Thanks,

Steve B

There are three on eBay right now (LOTUS part number O36 T 0327 ) that
would cover your 69. They range in bid from $10 to $52. Item #s-
8051365117 , 4625816270 , 8051563741 .

The only aftermarket one I'm aware of was published by Autobooks in
the early 80's and then reprinted by Brooklands in 1990. This is
heavily based on the official manuals and covers both the Elan and the
+2. They are still available new for GBP 16.95 The ISBN is 1855200228

For the official manual they pop up on ebay quite regularly or if you
prefer a pristine copy just try a local dealer.

X036T0327J Elan 62-73 Workshop Manual GBP 69.24
X036T0325J Elan 1962- Parts List GBP 51.45

Buying new in the UK might turn out to be cheaper than going through a
dealer in the US.

Aftermarket? You surely mean direct copies of past (and current)
Lotus manuals, hardbound or bundled into a slightly different format
to the factory originals.
