How the heck do I get a Dave Bean Catalogue to the UK?

PostPost by: elansprint71 » Thu Jul 10, 2003 9:09 pm

Dave Bean have offered me a free catalogue if I pay the six dollar carriage, great so far, but they have given me a fax number to send my credit card number to which is also a freefone (toll-free) number in the UK!!! I am not about to send my card details to this mystery number and Bean's have not responded to my requests for either a complete number including International Dialling code, or suggested another method of getting my dollars to them.

Has anyone in the UK found a method of getting hold of this excellent catalogue? I'm pretty desperate for this as the items I want are not offered by any source in the UK.

Pete,

I got this catalogue from Dave Bean about three years ago. Catalogue price was $6.00 plus shipping. Carriage from San Andreas, California to Wexford, Ireland was $22.00. But definitely worth it.

Can't exactly remember how I advised my credit card details, but as far as I can recall I followed the directions on their website and had no problems. http://www.davebean.com/catalog.htm It's got their phone and fax nos.

Pete,

The FAX is just an expedient. If you aren't comfortable, order a catalog
the old fashioned way and put a check in the mail to:

Dave Bean Engineering, Inc.
636 East St. Charles Street
Star Rt2
San Andreas, CA 95249
1 (209) 754-5802 Phone
1 (209) 754-5177 Fax

Ask for a copy of:
Performance Manual and Catalog, ELN-1
Lotus Elan, Plus 2, Cortina.

Lots of great info on standard Lotus as well as performance and racing
conversions, BDA engines, Leeson gearbox conversions, cartridge water
pump and toothed belt conversions, Dellorto and Weber carbs, dry sumps...
lots of stuff. Just the general information included makes it worth
having.

There's also a Europa supplement... same title, but part number EUR-1.
21 additional pages covering things like Spyder chassis, adjustable
suspension, Renault transaxle. Not a bad supplement if you have a Europa;
otherwise all the good general info is in the big Elan manual, ELN-1.

Regards,
Tim Engel

Pete,

I think that the best way to obtain their catalogues is to order parts from
them so they can put catologues together. I remenber that 2 or 3 years ago
at the Donnington show there were people selling their catalogues for a
couple of ?, does they're still be there ?
Regarding Dave Bean business, I just can say that I have only good
experience of buying parts from them:
I recently order a set of forged pistons, and ask them to deliver it to a
friend of mine who was in Las Vegas just for two days so I was able get the
parts just one week later (no excessive carriage cost, no taxes) everything
works fine ! Great job.
