rebuilding my Car & sorting out all of the Zetec installation nearly 12 Years ago was an interesting challenge & the Car has continued to provide tremendous fun albeit having covered only limited mileage due to my continuously changing personal circumstances.
With 185 BHP I think I have chosen the right amount of tune to provide a tractable easy to drive lightweight Car.
Anything more would start to be a bit of a handful on public Roads, especially in the wet.
I know of guys that have built 250 BHP 7's but they never stuck with them for long.
There was a thread on here a couple of years ago where a guy was attempting to fit a Sierra Cosworth engine into an Elan, now that was very brave & I wonder how he is progressing?

Over the years I have owned 7 different (always 2nd Hand) Lotus cars & non were as they left the Factory.
Even the Cortina got a GT Cortina rear Suspension upgrade(???).
So I'm really beyond help, it's the nature of the Beast I'm afraid
