Empty Profiles thread, (I think).
See how much more interesting it gets when you know where folks come from.

James Taylor is actually a biker, but they prefer being called cyclists because they drive the pedaled variety. My son has met him at a couple of local get-togethers.

I don't know what JT drives, but if he had an Elan it would be the two-seat variety

Now let's hear it from the +2 crowd

In Miami, there is a group of about 7 houses know collectively as Stiltsville, out in Biscayne Bay. They were all privately owned until a few years ago when they were taken over by the National Park system. Now they are allowed to be used by organizations such as the Boy Scouts for weekend events. (I camped on one of the structures with my Troop when I was a Scoutmaster.) The boys loved to fish right outside the front door. I think the water there is about 15 feet deep at high tide.

Back during Prohibition, one of these structures was known as a place to come out on your boat and buy some quality bootleg "hootch." There were more of these structures in the past, but owners (squaters) were not allowed to rebuild them after hurricanes... so some were lost and never allowed to be rebuilt. Now they are being saved as a part of Miami history. There were some notorious parties held there in the Miami Vice era.

Can't get there in your Elan however...

The tides of a storm soon fade from peoples memories. Before any of those summer homes were constructed, there was a New England storm known as The Portland Gale of 1898. In the following link it talks of a 10 foot surge in Cohasset Harbour about 5 miles north, the 2 "100 year storms" were 7 foot surges.

A friend of mine's grandfather claimed a 14 foot surge at the North River thats is a mile south. It filled the back waters and marshes with so much extra water, when the tide recieded, the drop was so quick that the river opened a new mouth a couple miles north. I don't think there is any safe place to live so you need to enjoy it while you can...

Gordon,
Have also pondered this question for many years. I belong to another group where a lot of the members also don't bother/won't put down a location. A question is then asked of the group, by one of these people, that presumes that everyone else knows which country they are from. The first reply is then usually "where are you located?" Paranoia of some kind I suppose!!!
Speaking of paranoia, I think someone has discovered my address and are this moment stealing my genuine, yellow minilite wheels. Guess I'll have to change them for something less desirable. No wait, I'll sell the car, remove my name from the list, then I won't be paranoid about someone finding out where I live, for whatever reason.
Think I had better go and have a cup of tea, should feel better after that.
Colin.

Hi,
Is there some reason that's not obvious to me (spamming etc), why quite a few people do not fill out their profile? Even just a location (with town) would be something, but occupation and interests do add a little more.
