Well it did look like the other models Lotus are bringing out.

There is after all only one (well actually three) real Elan(s)...

Yes ...very true ...and that would be a Type 26,36 & 45 .....but be careful here because you will upset the Type 50 owners who misguidedly think they have the "mother ship"

Just to get back at you I'm going to butcher a type 36, chop it's roof off, fit a 2:0 Duratec, call it an Elan Super Sprint and paint it Pistachio over White, come and see the finished article at Donnington. 8)

And my Type 50 is a Zetec 2:0 S190/5 with lots of trick bits, she's not the mothership, but definitely 'THE DADDY' Castle Combe here we come, hope it rains so I can embarass the 2Elevens as well as the normal Elise's and Exiges's.
Kindest regards

Gary,
I think they have missed the plot if they are cancelling the Elan, far better to phase out the current Evora (a silly name that hasn't grown on me) and re-launch an updated model badged as the Elan. The new Esprit will hopefully come to be a production car, but I wonder about the new Elite and whether they will cancel that as well, they seem to be aiming it at the Aston Martin / Maserati type market and I don't think there's room for them to be successful against that sort of competition.
Kindest regards

Alan, I agree with you totally.
Although I found the new ?lan form pleasing, I find it hard to relate to the new upscale direction Lotus is taking. I would guess that most others on this forum feel much the same.

My S1 Esprit may have been upmarket in 1978 but today it weighs about the same as a hard core track day Exige.

cheers
