Made the trip to see body restorer today - French Blue with Bourne grey in engine bay and all the other correct places, 26R style wheel arches - expecting completion by Christmas.

The team are the same ones who restored/painted the body on the lovely Shapecraft 26R, going for the same colour and silk black 26R mags so hoping it will look lovely...

Will post updates soon.

Mag 26R wheels back from the painters today - very excited about these!

Just need to paint the inside of the wheels as without that they loose air (porous apparently).

The chassis is now rolling and will post some more pics shortly.

Looks like the plexiglass headlight covers are on.

How did you fix them? I don?t see the usual screw tabs on the sides.

How much work does the new TTR front section need?
Do you think it will need a high build primer and then be flattened down or are the contours pretty good?

Hi Graeme

I will ask the bodyshop guys - I did ask about getting a nice apex along the top line of the front wings and they plan to build up that area a little to allow that to be created, guess that means a build across most of the front wing sections.

Thanks.
The reason I ask is that one of their shells is winging its way to me and I'm interested in anticipating how much prep needs doing.

Graeme, I received the replacement shell for my 26R a couple of months ago and the new shell is significantly better than the one I'm replacing, I was very pleased. I went lightweight shell with the alloy sill frames as a compromise over the super light shell which also has the alloy sill frames.

Over Christmas its modifying/preparing the shell for boot mounted diff oil cooler and pumps, fuel tank, engine oil cooler, breather and dry sump tanks, fitting screen frame, wiper holes, drilling all the firewall holes etc, modifying floor for race seat, centring and spacing shell to chassis with engine fitted etc before its ready to head off for paint

Its a lot of basic time-consuming work

Hi Vaughan, I hope all is well with you.
The last bare shell I prepared required quite a bit of work ( Boss shell) in addition to the usual holes in the right places.
Because of the extended time over which my car is being built I'm doing bit by bit as I purchase parts. I'm likely to fit a welded in cage which means the shell can't be removed once in, so I'll probably paint the underside and the inside, bits that I won't be able to get to again, then continue the dry build, then strip down for final paint.
I've gone for super light. All very exciting.
No diff cooler here, just the cooling air pipes, and wet sump.
On another matter, I may be getting somewhere with the bespoke trunnion bushes.

Hi Graeme,

Sound like same route as I've gone, fully assembled to get clearances and holes all done before painting. With the cage mines welded, and worked well as I've removed it from the old shell and its fitted straight into the new , so it was not damaged in the accident, its bolts into the tops of rear turrets, and various points front to rear, I can remove it, albeit its a very tight fit.

I'm painting the inside and under body, thats as far as my painting skills go before its off the painters for outer colour!

Keep me posted re the trunnions.
