Lotus Elan

DHC Sprint wanted

PostPost by: jimj » Tue Jan 10, 2017 4:33 pm

Some friends of ours are after a really nice DHC Elan Sprint. It needs to be REALLY nice, not quite nice, and, preferably, to original ex-factory spec. If you know of one let me know and I`ll put you in touch. They`re just the sort of people you`d want to buy your pride and joy.
They are also looking for a similar Europa. I`m suggesting they go for a twincam, of course, and ideally an original JPS.

I`m just bumping this. My pal won`t mind me saying that he`s a bit (?) impetuous. He`s turned up 3 already this week which I`ve dismissed just from pics. If you know of any please let me know, plus, if you know of any that look good but aren`t, please let me know too, to warn him off.

Hi JimJ,

Don't know if you're in the UK, but I have probably the finest Elan Sprint available (not an exaggeration), in Gold Leaf colours.

For details or to discuss contact me on btharding@me.com or call on 01449-767709 (Suffolk).

Cheers

Jim, that Sprint was for sale in July 2014. That was when its long term owner decided to sell. It was in storage from 2004 to 2012, then it underwent a rebuild. At that time there was a great deal of original documentation available with the car.

It is now on Dellortos, when it would have left the factory on Webers (May 72 is the earliest recorded car I have with Dellortos fitted at the factory) and of course the original airbox is missing, replaced with those next to useless (for roadwork) foam jobs. It left the factory as a mono Carnival Red colour.

Well, my pal has bought " the finest Elan Sprint available " (above) and is very pleased. He`s still looking for an immaculate Europa twincam, ideally JPS.

It does look very nice, but please get him to put the proper airbox on it

No, Phil, not that one, that isn`t "the best Elan Sprint available".

I'm confused, the one at DBMotorBrokers says "Possibly the best Elan Sprint available today."...

Update: I see Trevor has "the finest Elan Sprint available" as well, guess there's a lot of them about....
