Lotus Elan

Trade? horn button for horn disc?

PostPost by: tedtaylor » Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:33 pm

i have a late Elan S4 Sprint with signature steering wheel and late horn push that incorporates a ring, not a button.
i am missing the round plastic disc with Lotus emblem and radius line markings. I have purchased a replacement horn button from RD Ent that fits perfectly into the horn ring and has sufficed for quite some time now, however i figured i might ask if someone has a spare disc insert and may be in need of a horn button, that i'd be willing to trade. Let me know.
thanks

Here's what I need (the bottom piece only - round plastic disc)

Ted, I'm pretty sure it's the same as found on some Europa's. I couldn't tell you which models, though.
Might want to inquire over there.

I believe the horn push you are looking for is pretty rare

Greg - Yes, I've posted to Europa forum
Richard - can't imagine why they'd be so rare since Europa twin cams had them too.
Steve - I checked the link and none of them are correct

thanks all.

There are 2 styles, one with a leather insert & the other with radial lines:

The Elan Sprint tended to have the leather insert style & the Europa the radial line style; but as with all things Lotus, when shortages occurred anything would be fitted.
