Interesting chassis repair - I'd like to see more pics of that.
Surprising to see a left hooker with UK registration number - a conversion after export I suppose.

Not likely a conversion. Absolutely a Federal (US) car. Many indicators: reflectors, engine, interior, ...

More likely a US export car picked up in the UK and registered to drive for a while before transport back to the US. Doing this saved 30% off the price ($3500 vs $5000). No UK tax either.If driven enough miles imported into the US as a used car.

This is what I did with my 69 S4 SE that I ordered in the States, picked up at the factory, drove 6000 miles over two months, and then shipped home to California.

That's quite a saving even now never mind 50 years ago.
Leaving the UK reg on the car seems the thing to do.
I like your California plate by the way - very neat!
