Lotus Elan

Elan Plus 2 with BDA back on the market!

PostPost by: Elanintheforest » Thu Jun 14, 2018 12:54 pm

After another year of not using the car, I've decided to put the car on the market.

It is running now, and driving around the paddock. Just about everything works, but it still needs a light re-commissioning.

Here's the advert....

And here's the old advert I put on Elan.net only.

Fantastic, historically significant car beautifully presented Mark. I've always liked it and at the price of a recently done Spyder Zetec, it looks great value too. You know what I'm going to say so I won't!
Cheers

Yeah, I know, and it does sound gorgeous!

Last time I got a procession of blokes who just wanted to sell the BDA, install a Twincam and make money out of the car. If it's the same this time then I'll put it on the road properly, install a 4.1 diff and a 5 speed along with a pair of Contour Recliners (which are sitting in the garage) and have a bit of fun!!

I have to say that this would suit me down to the ground - I love it.
Really wish I was in a position to babysit it for a while!

Mark,
Luckily you are a patient man and a good judge of character, good luck with finding the right person who will immediately get on with the recommissioning and won’t part the engine out. The danger is selling it to the right person who loses heart and sells it on. But what can you do, due diligence is all.

I do know somebody on here who is interested that would fit the bill (not me), perhaps I can give him a nudge for you.
Kindest regards

Thanks Alan. I'm not at all patient though!

I don't need the space so there's not an imperative to sell, but I would like to see the car being used properly. If someone buys it and takes the BDA out at some later stage well there's not a lot I can do. It would be their choice of course. Now it's running almost as well as when I bought it 10 years back it's quite easy to keep it all alive.

I have already had 2 offers for the engine, and I am quite polite on the phone.....currently!!
