Lotus Elan

Intended Elan Successor X100 Prototype For Sale

PostPost by: tbsmith » Wed Jun 20, 2018 3:15 am

I just reduced the asking price on my 1984 Lotus X100 prototype to $66K. Car is in US (Houston). Fully restored and street legal. See https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/ca ... 95865.html

don't give it away! I've seen your car over the past year or so and have always wished you the best of luck selling to a museum or collector since you have something special, but I've also seen you dropping your price again and again. I think cost is not the issue, but finding the right buyer and that will take time.
Be patient and hang in there and don't give it away. you deserve your just reward for such a nice restoration of something so unique in the Lotus industry.

this coming from a M100 owner/lover.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for you comments and I would also love to sell it to a museum. But neither Toyota, nor Lotus, nor the museum in Alabama is interested. I'll be happy if it goes to a good home. I wouldn't even sell it but I need the space.

I’d love to know what it’s like to drive. Looks somewhat heavier than our Elans so how’s the performance ?

Barber Museum at Barber Motor Sports Park has a lot of Lotus cars. Give them a try if you haven't already.

It is a bit heavier but with slightly more power than my Sprint so acceleration is comparable. It is wider than the Elan so it reminds me more of my Esprit, handling wise. Maybe because everything is fresh, but it feels and drives great.

Ha, good idea about Jay Leno. Would it be crass of me to post it on the Jay Leno Garage Facebook page?

Yes, Barber was the museum I contacted, but couldn't remember the name. They never replied.

Not crass, good marketing. Or perhaps someone on the forum has an in there?
