Lotus Elan

Interesting +2s with marmite roof.....

PostPost by: Grizzly » Mon Nov 12, 2018 3:09 pm

Just seen this coming up at H&H auction Buxton, strangely quite like the vinyl roof with the chrome finisher etc in a very non purist sort of way. I'm not into the gold wheels and it screams some thing nasty under that vinyl but at face value looks solid.

That’s funny. I was only just looking at a very similar car, on this thread:

Scroll down to the 14th photo. Red Plus 2 with gold revolution wheels. And black vinyl roof!
Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

Interesting, it has over riders on the rear bumper? Never seen them before.

I took those photos 11 years ago at Castle Combe, and spent a bit of time looking over that Plus 2 because of the wheels. Really don't like the black roof though! I didn't like the black roof on the Jaguar XJ Coupe, the Capri 3000E and some of the early XJS cars either, but can put up with one on the Dolomite Sprint!

Had a look at this yesterday and i think my first impression was correct, paint looks ok from a distance but it's been prepped really badly then some one has tried to dress it up a bit by attacking it with satin black....... on top of that they have self tapping screwed all the trim panels in place ruining the door cards,Side trims, Parcel shelf etc.

This is one i will be interested to see what it goes for....... It's raining today and it's outside so it might make it look better.

£9000 hammer price, so £10125 inc fee's assuming it sold.
