Adrian Newey

Mrs R bought me his autobiography for a pressie.

https://www.harpercollins.co.uk/9780008 ... uild-a-car

Thoroughly recommended, if only for the honest assessment of the various personalities and characters of the other players. He's obviously no fan of certain famous drivers.

I admit I got a bit lost when he started describing the intricate details of aerodynamics.

Great book but large. More a bed side than something to slip in your pocket.

This is the Sprint Adrian built with his father and which was gifted to him when he got married.

Thanks for that.

He mentioned it in the book. Apparently his father had 2 Elan's. As you say he gave the yellow to Adrian and they (the new Mr & Mrs) took it down to South of France on honeymoon. A nice present.

Interesting how it has been slightly modified. I assume he has had it since his wedding??

He mentions Chapman as one of his few "heroes". Although, whisper it quietly, I think results show Newey is in a different league.

Yes, his father had a +2 in white before the Sprint.

I am also in the process of reading this book. Very interesting insight into F1 amongst other things. I found I could also appreciate his childhood and growing up with a father who had engineering hobbies much the same as my own dad.

Interesting the way these book places work out their prices, obviously know where you are in the World and price accordingly.
The link above for example gives me a price here in NZ of $41, i.e. about 20 pounds.
The Amazon link, 13 pounds for a "used" copy, ( and, as is usual with Amazon, almost impossible to get a shipping cost before starting the payment process).

Getting a little off topic here, but as we are all Elan owners, and therefore quite a few IQ points above average, we probably are big book buyers so all good info to have.... :D :D

Happy New Year,
Ralph.

The thing that always intrigues me is that the ?kindle edition? is often priced higher than the physical book. In this instance on Amazon it?s ?9.99 versus ?8 including post for the hardback. For reference or technical books I like to have pdf or other Ereader type versions in addition to the physical book, useful for traveling or referring to when away from home.
Kindest regards
