DVLA Road Tax Increase?

PostPost by: William2 » Fri Apr 13, 2018 4:07 pm

I went on-line yesterday to pay my car tax for my daily driver car using the reminder that came in the post. The 12 month payment on the reminder was ?135 but when I went ahead and paid with my credit card I had to pay ?140. Bearing in mind there has been no recent government budget increase and you are no longer penalised for using your credit card, can anyone tell me why they charge you more than the stated price? As an aside, I also noticed that Mastercard seem to be charging me ?0.50 interest for using my card for the above!! It strikes me that everyone is on the fiddle!!

I would just double check the charge for visa card payment. Quite often they claim the charge for the use of the card off the purchaser but no charge for debit cards. Its quite common practice.

I've taxed a car this year and did not get the ?2.50 added.
However tax goes up every year and the post reminders beforehand at the old price! Quite why their programmers can't work out that anything due after 1/4 will cost more I've never understood.
