Ahhh, but the lightness comes with the clever roof design, the roof is actually made from perforated sheet steel with a covering of hessian and then the fabric top.

Car still contains half a small tree and a chassis that probably weighs more than an Elan :)

Takes me back to my childhood - this is the first car I can remember my father owning when I was about 5 years old. I still have a workshop manual for it !
