In London there's always the Ace Cafe. Not specifically Lotus but if it uses petrol it'll be there sooner or later. This is a link to May events on their website - http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/default.aspx?view2=list&date2=01/05/2014%2000:00:00&m=05&y=2014

There`s the Donnington Historic Festival on 3rd/4th/5th of May. See some giant killing from the Elites and much more. Google it. It`s not exactly London or Paris but 2 hours drive from London will seem a comparatively short trip for a Kiwi.

The Mini festival at Brands Hatch looks worth a visit. I'd go if it weren't so far for me.

And both very near the train stations.

great stuff, after all the great suggestions made I will go to Brooklands for the day, it is close and I have some Italian cars in the stable as well. Donnington would have been awesome too, but we can not do it all.
Time permitting I will also make an effort to go and see the old Lotus factories as suggested by some.
( have to keep the family happy too)
Will also try to visit motorbooks in London, I remember they always had an great selection of motoring and aviation books.
Paris will be a little different I think, although I do remember I classic car race meeting in the mid eighties at the banked circuit of monthlery ( probably spelled wrong) and that was fantastic.
Instead will buy some classic car magazines to keep myself occupied during the travels
cheers robin

Sunday May 4th - Goodwood Breakfast Club:
http://www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfast-clu ... unday.aspx
It's free and it's Supercar Sunday so extremely popular, arrive very early to avoid the queues. There's no racing, just lots of people wandering around looking at parked up cars and wondering when they should join the 45 minute queue for a proper coffee. Always some great cars there though, even in the car park.

I used to live and work close to Paris, and remember with great fondness the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or at Montlh?ry. It's held nowadays at Dijon-Prenois, another circuit with history.
There used to be an interesting museum in La D?fense, but that closed some years ago, sadly.
