Fuel system Non return Valve 1972 Elan sprint

In rebuilding my 1972 Sprint I found that the rubber connection between the fuel tank and the plastic fuel line had broken up (off road sine 1984) and I found a small non return valve on the boot floor. Does anyone know if there is a non return valve fitted in the fue line from the tank. It does not mention it in the manual??

Not from the factory. Do a search on here for Primer / priming pump...
