Lotus Elan +2 Fuel System Overview and Improvements

PostPost by: mbell » Fri Dec 27, 2013 4:24 pm

As part of the re-commissioning of my 1973 Lotus Elan +2S 130/5 I have been looking at the fuel systems, its operations, common issues and possible improvements. I have read a lot of different threads on the fuel system on Lotuselan.net, these all contain excellent information but as with all forums the information is scatter between many different threads. As part of processing through this information I decide to try and document this information and my thoughts into a single document.

I thought this might be useful background information for others so I've attached it to this thread.

Please note: I welcome feedback via PM only please. The idea is to try and keep the information in a single easy to read/update document. Feedback within this thread is defeating the point of the document, to keep the basic information in one place. (If people think significant changes are needed I am happy to supply the source document for people to update.)

I'd welcome pictures of peoples modifications uploading to this thread give people ideas (I'll add some of mine soon) or possibly other guides/DIYs on a related topic.

Update:
v1.1:
Typos - alleggerita
Boot location for pump & Electric cutoff - rgh0
Metal fuel line in chassis - andywatts
Fuel pump access issues - Sea Ranch
