Removing Dellorto Venturi

PostPost by: William2 » Fri Apr 21, 2017 10:32 am

I am refurbishing a pair if DHLA40 carbs that are in a good condition overall but I am having trouble trying to remove the venturis and the chokes. I have tried Plus Gas penetrating fluid around the perimeter and trying to gently tap them out with a soft hammer I have already snapped off one of the venture centre castings. Are they sometimes impossible to shift or is there a magical solution? Would it help if I put it in the fridge freezer overnight?!

Errr silly question but have you un-done the lock nut and removed the grub screw on the underside of the carb? One for each choke.
Cheers

Hi John, yes all grub screws are removed. I had heard that the venturis can be difficult to extract. I suspect they get corroded.
