Sonic cleaning

PostPost by: prezoom » Tue Nov 22, 2016 4:49 pm

A local Elan owner just picked up a sonic cleaner that is large enough to do two carbs at the same time. There are multiple cleaning solutions available designed for different metals. Some can damage metals other than for which they were designed. Since the carb bodies may contain as many as three different metals, does anyone have a preference on cleaning solutions?

Sorry, can't help with the solution to use- but would be interested in seeing pictures of the results of cleaning as I have been thinking of getting a sonic cleaner for a while.

When we figure it out, I will post. We both have several sets of Webers that need cleaning. As an aside, does anyone know what size lead shot is used to block passages? I figure a couple of appropriate shotgun shells, would provide several years worth of spares for the both of us.
