Boot lid colour

PostPost by: Dieschelan » Tue Dec 12, 2017 2:47 pm

Hi

Is the boot lid colour inside Black or the same colour of the rest of the car? I have an S3 Dhc and a plus2. Is the same in booth cars?

Regards

Think it should be body coloured....... I've seen S4,Sprint and most models of +2 in original paint and they all had body coloured boot lids on the inside.

Don't know about S3 but wouldn't surprise me if they are body coloured too. Google the factory brochures, some times you get lucky and there is a picture.

Inside of boot lid on plus 2 elans are definately body colour as shown on a number of brochures but how about the inside of the bonnet? I recently sanded the inside of a bonnet to reveal under the black paint the body colour so what colour should the inside of the bonnet be because I have seen quite a number in matt /satin black ?

The bonnet may have been painted all over as part of production but I've never seen anything but black in the real world.

As above, rare to see an Elan with a Painted bonnet (underside) they are unfinished GRP so would look a little 'Rough' if painted. Many of the +2's i've seen have had a felt pad fitted to the underside of the bonnet but the felt pad on a 2 seater is a little more hit and miss as some had them and some didn't.

From what i've seen personally +2 bonnets just have a very thin colour coat on the underside (almost just Overspray) with a layer of black over the top (same story as the wheel arches)

I think we're switching around here, the boot or trunk lid was always body color and the bonnet or hood is the rough textured fiberglass and satin black and sometimes with a covering. Gordon Sauer
