Door Check Tube Seal

I have just fitted the door check brackets to the door apertures on my S4 Elan and noticed that there is no grommet of gasket of any kind fitted to the large hole that the check tube passes through.Is that normal??

Mine has a Grommet that goes over the check strap tube and pushes into the hole in the body but nothing on the door end.

I've bought the S4-project dismantled so I have no idea of what I need.
On line there are no pics of such parts , some photo of your car could help me a lot.
