How to remove the Cigarette Lighter from the dash.

I am currently refurbishing the Dashboard and I am not sure how to remove the Cigarette Lighter. Don?t what to apply force in case I damage it.
Can anyone please advise how to remove it
Looking at the photos, at the rear, the external body has a formed thread which the internal (feed) appears to screw in. There also appears to be a washer that is pushed onto the feed wire, so I think this can be removed, but not sure if it helps with the removal.
Thanks for any comments.

Trevor, mine came out by holding the internal socket piece with my finger while unscrewing the external collar from the back of the dash. I was able to get a replacement element to screw in to the stock handle.

As per previous post, the outer piece (sleeve) unscrews off the inner sleeve, hold inner sleeve with thumb and unscrew the outer sleeve.

Stu and Brian thanks very much for your very helpful responses.
As the cigarette lighter had some rust on it, I sprayed it yesterday with some releasing oil and this morning I was able to unscrew it. Great I can now move this little project forward.
Brian, I did search the forum, but the results were mostly about wiring & short circuits, perhaps the search words should have been different.
Thanks again.
