Inertia Seat Belts in a DHC

PostPost by: delle » Wed Oct 22, 2014 12:43 pm

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to fit automatic set belts in my S4 DHC and found the "Elan Inertia Seat Belt Conversion DHC" from Spydercars. Has anybody here done that conversion? Pics? Infos?

Best wishes from Germany

Hello Delle,

Yes I have in my S3 dhc, they work well. Not too difficult to fit. I'll try and dig out some photos.

Best regards,

Rob (Mazzini)

PS. Just looked and sadly I can't find any photos of the belts - sorry.

I have bought the Spyder kit but as yet have not fitted them. If you contact them they will email you some fitting photos.

Have a look at this ......

I have them and they are very good except they do not fully return but that's not a big deal.

Thank you for the replies. Sean Reeve from Spydercars just sent some pics, I'll share them here:

As I have yet to fit mine as well, it looks to me from the pictures and looking at the main support brackets that you only need to drill one additional hole each side at the rear of the fibreglass turret part of the bodywork. Does this sound correct?

Yes that's right, the only extra hole is in the rear face of the turret. There is supplied a threaded flat plate that goes up from inside the wheel arch, and the bolt passes through a special spacer arrangement that allows the fixing to be tight and to find it's own distance from the turret. I guess the moulds are all a bit different, hence the need for the adjustable bit.

I have the brackets on my FHC and they seem very good and very strong. On the fixed head, the belt reel is mounted higher and the belt doesn't have to pass through the extra fitting shown for the DHC. I guess the belt reel needs to be lower on the soft top to allow room for the top when folded.

I have attached a photo of my S4 rear right hand turret area showing a hole (both sides) on the tip left of photo. Do I assume that if you fit the Spyder inertia reel seat belt brackets that these holes would be redundant and therefore can be glassed over?

I believe that's right William. Those holes exist on my FHC too and I haven't used them so have put solid grommets in them. I think you could have extension pieces on the top of the rear turrets that the shoulder belt could be bolted to. I assume the extra hole was where that fitting went.
