Mirrors

PostPost by: sprinter » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:08 pm

I recently bought a sprint in Switzerland and it doesn't have a rear view mirror, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a decent (original maybe) rear view mirror.

Also wondering if anybody knows where i could get another wing mirror to match this one (see attached photo). I don't like those that are attached to the body work.

Anyway, i'm thinking once I get decent rear-view mirror I won't need the wing-mirrors.

thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Holden list clamp on door mirrors. They look similar to yours but I can't tell if it's an exact match

Your rear view mirror should be wingard stuck to the windshield, like this:

As opposed to the MG mirrors used on earlier models that attach to the tie rod.

The mirror is very good, I've just replaced the glass (mirror) on mine, not sure what donor vehicle it came from though...

Hope this is not too much of a thread deviation but what is the Mirror block fixed to the screen with? I have a new Screen on its way and the metal block that is fixed to the old screen is really on there so not only do i not want to break it but i could do with some suggestions what to use to re-fix it?

Sorry if i've hijacked your thread but i thought you may need to know too and it saves opening another thread.

The mounting block is stuck to the windshield, do a google on "Loctite 37438 Rearview Mirror Adhesive Kit - 0.3 cc"

Might be a b**ch to get the old block off, try using a razor blade...

Thanks for that, for some reason all the Mirror kits in the UK seem to be the pad type and from past experience are not that hot. So off to order some :D

Over the last year my Elan's been doing the Windscreen hokey cokey so have only just finally fitted the screen and i'm back to fitting the Mirror

I bought the bonding kit as suggested and removed the block that the rearview mirror is screwed too but the problem is i can't for the life of me remember exactly where it was bonded? I think is was stuck to the drivers side of the Chrome rod aprox 1" down from the rubber? But i thought i'd ask before making a mess of it :)

Does anyone have a picture or rough measurements of where it should be glued in regards to the Chrome support rod?

Thanks,
Chris

Definitely on the passenger side of the rod... travelling at the moment, but can measure it at the weekend if you still need it...

Thats interesting, i just roughly fitted my sun visors and i couldn't make the mirror fit nicely in the gap on the driver side of the rod so that would explain why

Ermmm, weren't DHC mirrors all mounted on the motor-bike spoke and FHC mirrors stuck to the glass?

The MGB mirror (fitted to the spoke) appears to be correct for Sprint DHC.

Not for US Sprints at least, DHCs have it glued to the screen.
