Plus 2 Window frames

PostPost by: alfadave » Wed Jun 20, 2018 3:31 pm

Anyone got any tips for cleaning/restoring the aluminium window frames on a Plus 2.
Autoglym metal polish isn't man enough for the job.

Thanks

Assuming it?s the chrome you?re talking about? Tinfoil and vinegar has worked well for me in the past! Sounds bizarre I know. But give it a try!
Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

Sorry, I mean the drop glass frames to the doors.
Seems like aluminium?

I'm sure they're chrome, perhaps they've got to the point of re-plating?

Very badly pitted.....might need blasting/chemical treatment first

The window frames on the plus 2 are chrome plated brass - so not magnetic! Its actually quite unusual for the chrome not to respond to polishing - on ALD I had a quick go at mine using brasso and was amazed how well they came up. I'll follow the relatively aggressive brasso with some solvol and mine should be looking pretty good.
