Missing all the screws on my "Speaker/Demister Grille". Lotus parts manual says screws are 6 BA 1-1/4 and 1-1/2" . Ordered them and the heads are so small they fall through the holes in the grille. Wrong screw. I assume Lotus meant something like 2 BA or 3 BA. Anybody familiar with this? Thanks.

Was the small size set for use with the little washer/with integral caps that look sort of like a Yorkshire pudding? No specific knowledge of uk screw sizes as on the west side of the pond, so I just found something in my screw trays that would fit using my old little caps- caps probably nla.

Jack, I thought that could be a possibility as well. I have seen the little countersunk washers used to secure the door card, but based on the exisitng countersunk recess in the grille, it would make more sense if the screw head was countersunk saving an unnecessary washer. Judging by the head size for larger BA screws, a 2 BA or 3BA would certainly fit nicely. Just wanted to see what others had actually found to fit properly.

Thanks for the photo. Is this an Elan s1 or s2 grille? The black screw head appears to be slotted and that is what I am trying to identify. Any idea the size? The other stainless fastener, as your probably know, is the tenax for the tonneau cover.

I can see by your photo, you have the Coupe parts book. I have my Coupe apart for restoration in Florida and can check on all this and sizes when I migrate to my southern home around Halloween

I was able to buy the remaining stock of washers from Lotus East when Lotus realigned the distributors and LE went belly up 30 years ago. They are destined for my coupe (pre-airflow). I don't even have enough for the whole job

My car is an S2. Can't tell you what type of screw it is as just from my bin if misc. screws and since in Canada I am sure not to any British standard as no sources here I for any British spec fastener am aware of. I do recall the screw head will go through the grill without the washer/cap, it was the washer/cap I was trying to point out as to why the spec'd screw may not fit.. Screw goes into a metal clip, not sure if original, but hole in crash pad was obviously sized for something for the screw to go into.
Maybe someone can be more helpful.

I found a photo of the early demister grille with countersink screws that appear to be the correct size. They probably s/b black, but certainly much larger that 6BA.
