Those are called screw caps, mainly used in the furniture industry. I know Ikea uses them and you can find them at McMaster Carr. Just search for screw caps and you should find them. They may not look exactly like th ones you show, but they come in colors including black. Just have to get one close to your size. Good luck, BTW what did it come off of?

BMWs use "screw caps" on exposed interior screws. I know for sure the E36 (92-99 3 series) and Z3s use them I've bought many when removing interior panels. They come in at black and beige. May or may not work for you, but if there's a BMW dealer close by it would be worth a trip. Part number for a black one is 51161949793. Good luck!

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your replies.
Gearbox in answer to your question the screw cap covers were used on the S1, 2 and 3 to cover up the screws used on the inner sill covering, which is vinyl on the S1 and 2 and on the demister grilles. Because of their frail construction the covers often snapped off when cleaned or the trim panel was removed.
I might just use black screws

All,
They were also used on the S1 and 2 hardtops in same colour as the roof lining where the screws asre sued to hold the trim panels above the window opening back down to the parcel shelf.
If you find any please let me know as my 26r had them on and many broke off as you described when removing trim for repainting.
Cheers

The same style covers were used on my Sabra GT to hide the screws holding the door panels to the doors. Mine appeared to have a vinyl coating, black, to match the vinyl. SEM makes paint that you can use on vinyl, leather, rubber, etc., that will not come off. I changed the interior color and used a matching SEM color to coat the windlass surrounding doors/windows, and everything else that needed to look like the new interior color. It was also used to color match the leather on the key fob.
