Anyone in the northeast USA getting a container from TTR

PostPost by: tvacc » Wed Mar 21, 2018 7:06 pm

Hi all,

I am interested in buying a roll cage from Tony Thompson Racing and the cost of shipping it by itself will be very expensive. Is anyone getting a crate or a container to the North East USA or southern Ontario that I could tag along with my cage? I am in Buffalo NY.

email me at tvacc*at*lotusowners*dot* you know where.

Regards,

Contact Tony Thompson he should be able to tell you what/who has an order placed, he doesn't do Elans exclusively so you could miss someone just relying on a post on here.

Good luck
Steve

I have bought a lot of items from TTR with them being delivered to California. Some of these items were large and unwieldly.

These never were delivered by container.

I found the shipping costs to be based more on weight. They were delivered in just a few days. Actually faster than the US suppliers. At what I thought were reasonable prices.

Did you get an actual shipping quote from Stuart at TTR or just assuming it?s got to be expensive?

They were very nice to deal with. Shipping this roll cage just was a little more than I wanted to pay. Basically it was almost the same cost as the cage. Same thing happened back in 95 when I had the roll cage shipped from Caterham for my 93 Caterham. Cage was $750 as was the shipping!

As I work with the Caterham dealer here in the northeast, I am just going to ship it with the next car that we get in for a customer. As it happens I just got word this morning that one will be shipping the beginning of May so i will use that box.

When I said container, I meant box.

Glad you have a good solution.

I agree that having shipping be the same as the part cost is hard to swallow.

Tony,

I know a local guy (Evanston Illinois) who is pulling a full Spyder cage out of his Elan coupe. You could probably pick it up cheap....

Please email me his contact information to tvacc*at*lotusowners*dot*com
Or give my info to him. My brother lives in Louisville, not to far from him. Maybe we can do something.

Thanks
