Distance from dash to heater

I am redoing my S3/S4 dash. I'm going to delete the ashtray and replace with a blanking plate. The car is apart so I cannot get dimensions myself.
What I am looking for is how much room is there between the dash and the heater?
Wondering if I can make a small "storage space" for something like a cell phone behind the blanking plate.

A space for fuses (as in earlier cars) is also a consideration.

Around 25mm between the lower edge of the heater and the back of the dash.

Thank you. I should have expected that the distance would be just about the depth of the ashtray. I was ?hoping? for a little more room though.
