Handbrake lever, Elan S3

PostPost by: John Larkin » Tue Feb 05, 2019 8:17 am

My handbrake lever handle was melted in a fire and is irreparable. The rest of the assembly is usable. Can anybody advise me where I can source a new or used handle or entire handbrake lever? I've tried the usual suppliers without luck.

I assume that the handbrake was sourced by Lotus from some other car manufacturer. Anybody know the source?

Hi Peter,

I saw that Ebay advertisement this morning, but I thought it too expensive. I hunting around at the moment, and I may yet buy it if I have no luck elsewhere.

The body shell is ready for the paintshop. Collected the balanced prop shaft this morning. Chassis clean up and painting next. Expect to have chassis rolling again in April.

Regards,

John.

If the metalwork of your handbrake is OK I expect you could make a new handle with that new rubber-putty stuff that sets like hard plastic.

I forgot its name for the moment.

Ah found it:

Because I too had a handbrake that had been a road fire and needed a replacement trigger or push-button, I traced that plastic part when I had my assembly apart. It would be a relatively easy part to make from 1/4inch plastic sheet. Do you need me to send you a copy of my tracing?

John, see Steve's post about 6 down in this thread - you might see if he has any more.

I have a spare Elan handbrake handle assembly, and would be willing to trade for an original Seven S2 handbrake lever assembly...
