How Many Baby Elans Left In The World

PostPost by: stevebroad » Thu Oct 28, 2004 10:22 pm

Hi

Does anyone have any idea how many of the approx 14,000 (the number I have seen quoted most often) Elans built are still around?

Have a look at the Elan register

there are quite a few listed there.

I have one on Long Island, as does my friend at Penny Lane Auto.

That accounts for a dozen or so.

hmmmm. . . my books say about 10,000 were built. Types 26, 36, and 45. Plus another @5100 +2's.
I've got one type 26, one type 50 and just sold a 45. (and owned five others back in the 1970's, do they still exist???)
We're up to fourteen or fifteen ???
I'm gonna guess there's 6 to 7 thousand little ones left.
As mordbid as it seems, maybe we could count how many have been destroyed. I've only seen pictures...

The registry topped 100 cars last Friday with three more entries over the weekend. We've hit the magic 100 number so it is time for me to finish the registry todo list.

Gee, looking over the registry I discovered I have owned my Elan for over 10 years now! Wow, time flies when you are having fun owning an Elan.
