Looking for someone who could do a pre-purchase inspection on a series 4 coupe located in Melbourne, Australia. Thanks in advance for any names.

That's the idea. If it checks out. Can you tell me a little bit about your experience with Elans.

Rohan has just a little bit of experience with Elans. He is one of the most knowledgeable about all things Elan. If you search for his postings, you will have an idea of the depth and breadth of his knowledge.

For my resume read my 4000 plus posts here
I am a mechanical engineer and have built and maintained the S4 coupe I have owned and raced for 40 years as well as my Plus2. Not much I don't know about Elans though I learn something new everyday to compensate for the things I forget!. I already know most of the Elans in Melbourne and was not aware of an S4 coupe for sale so be careful of a scam.

Sorry but I don't understand a plan to export a car from here to the USA. Costs in the US generally cheaper and more cars available and no export costs or LHD conversion needed?

cheers

"1971 Lotus Elan S4 Federal Coupe. Ground
up restoration - powder coated chassis and
suspension. Lightweight crank and flywheel,
Cosworth rods JE forged pistons 71/4? Tilton
clutch. C/V jointed drive shafts, tooth belt water
pump and alternator drive. 183 BHP and 134 lbs/
ft of torque. (Dyno sheets available) This was a
?keeper? but !! LHD with club rego (transferrable
if you?re a VHRR member). $40K spent, so I
would like a bit extra for my labour! Sensible
offers to John Sheppard
on (03) 9379 7898"

This is the ad posted locally in our local VHRR club mag. John Sheppard is a well known local race car builder and restorer who does top quality work. It is not a cheap car and the engine is probably worth A$20k alone.

Very nice! Nice door fit with a full 'bulb' type gasket. Interesting boot gasket mod.

Congrats on winning the auction (I'm still not sure if there was a reserve or not, or if it was met...) but if you do get the car we'll have to have a play date. I'm only 30 miles east of you.

I also have a correct horn boss for the car that you might be interested in...

Sounds great, but you may have to drive north. I will keep the car in New Paltz, NY. Lots of great driving roads up there. Whereabouts are you in Long Island?

Just curious.
How much would it cost to get a car from Australia to say Long Beach?

I shipped a Sunbeam Tiger from San Diego to Oz with the port in Long Beach. If I remember correctly, the shipping was about $2500.00
