Lilliputian S2 Restoration

PostPost by: lance54 » Mon Jan 23, 2017 12:36 am

I found an inexpensive Corgi Elan S2 to restore for my 3 year old grandson Jack.

Like every Elan restoration I began with body off.
body-off.jpg and

Then inspection of all the components.

Followed by paint removal.

Watch this space for next steps.

Well done. You found one with what looks like good door fit. Now don't tick off the purists by painting it a non-stock color!

Pretty sure you can buy special rivets to put it back together too. Think someone does kits.

Now that you are restoring it, it's value will probably be in the $10 to $15 area. Had you left the original patina, the value would have been around $100,000 !!!

Ah but 3 year old Jack, being wise beyond his years, will supply that lost patina in short order. He'll hold on to the car through adulthood and cash in when the providence of these, now even rarer, cars is harder to trace due to the flood of 2069. :D

Several mold marks were removed by file before a light primer coat was applied.

I will need to find some more appropriate colors here.....

Good thing I have the correct seats. They seem to be a scarce and valuable item these days.
