Need help to identify this car

PostPost by: alexblack13 » Thu Dec 18, 2014 9:08 pm

The car is 36/9131. Elan FHC ... On Stromberg Carbs.

last seen wearing a private plate (+30 years ago!!) KAM 9.

Now in rolling chassis form and the engine just rebuilt. (By myself).

The now owner of the car does not want to proceed any further until he is sure he can get it registered OK. The DVLA have no record of the car.

We would love to find the previous owners and if possible where it was reg'd and who sold it.

Next port of call will be Lotus Archives to see if we can find dealer the car was delivered to new. So can anyone advise Andy Graham's contact details at Lotus cars? This would be very helpful.

Take care guys. Have a very merry Xmas...

Thanks Tim.

I have emailed Wullie, the cars owner with the information. I suspect he will ask me to contact Andy on his behalf so I have asked him for proof of ownership and any other relevant documents he may have.

An email will go off to Andy when I have the information he requires to help us.

Thanks Guys...

Have you rang the DVLA? might be a little different but when i came to register our Elan after it being off the road since 1980 they sent us a letter saying they had no record of the car and required a V62, so to cut along story short we filled in the Form and sent it too them (we had the original logbook in our possession after it was retured to us from the DVLA), the DVLA then wrote to the guy we bought the car off (so they must have had some form of paper record for the car with his address) he brought the letter round to show us and it was one of those "If you sold this car then don't reply" letters, i think he wrote back to say yes the car had been sold on X date and 2 weeks after that the new V5 arrived.

I did talk to the DVLA a fair bit at the time because i panicked when they returned the original V5 with a letter saying the vehicle was not recognized but it seems what they meant was the Car wasn't on there Data base (the owner didn't exchange the old V5 for the modern one in the 80's when they started to put every thing on Computer) the annoying thing was the whole ordeal took nearly a year.
