Stromberg carbs on a lotus elan s4

I have a 1971 Lotus Elan on Strombergs, which are giving problems at tick over. Can anyone recommend a good repairer or helpful advice?

Hi,

In Mikes Wilkin's book (page 38) he does state that Stromberg engines have a "splashy" exhaust when compared to the regular beat of a Weber/Dellorto engine. Not having a Weber engined Elan to compare to my Stromberg one, I can't comment positively or negatively on it. Burlen fuel systems hold the manufacturing rights to the Stromberg carb and I think they do rebuilds. Southern Carbs in Crawley also rebuild them as well. I believe that they are relatively simple to rebuild compared to Webers. I had mine refurbished here in Ireland.

Hi
You don't give a lot of information - what is actually wrong with it and what have you already done to remedy the problem?
forgetting ignition there are so many potential problem areas with the carbs depending who has worked on it before!
