53 years later

I was out for a drive a couple of weeks back and my Elan finally let me down.

I have driven my car for some 53 years and 53,026 miles when lo and behold the water pump failed, in my driveway upon my return thankfully. It has been 20 years and 18,000 miles since I last totally restored her (to origional). I am having a lot of fun getting close with her again. Thanks to Dave Bean's shop repair and the usual other "to do" work is well underway - will have her running for Christmas.

Bill,

Well Bill, if the bloomin' thing is going to let you down every 53 years, then maybe you should sell it and get something a bit more reliable!

Nope - it is origional - guess I should have. This time tho I am replacing the timing chain and throw out bearing for cautions sake as well as finally installing tubular exhaust headers whilst it is laid up. And it is a good time to detail the engine bay.
