Earth strap on steering coupling

PostPost by: pereirac » Mon Jun 05, 2017 9:40 am

Hi,
The earth strap across the steering UJ has just broken, so no horn. Has anybody managed to replace this with the radiator in place? I only ask as (typically) I replaced the radiator fluid about two weeks ago so don't really want to go through this all over again? I suspect it may be quicker in the long term to remove the radiator to get to the joint?
Do people just use a single wire or would a bit of copper braid be better?

Thanks
Carl

yes, from the side, other wheel slightly up so that you can rotate more easily to the exact position within a fraction of a degree to be able to do the nuts. You only need to stop tea or coffee for two weeks before getting to the job.

other than that, at least on my car, I can raise the radiator about 15 to 20cm without disconnecting it (planning to change the front oil seal that way one of these days)

Thanks... The same goes for most Elan based jobs.. Where in France are you? We are coming over to a couple of shows, one in Normandy at the end of the month and the other in Brittany in August.

Hello,

I'm east of Paris (workshop with 2 others south-east at the moment, looking for a more durable relocation) - will leave to get some sun first half of Aug.
