S3 front thimble running lights

Attached is a picture of the running light from my S3 #5727. Notice the lense has no 'fins'. All repros
I see, and this thread

show fins in the lens. So, what is it that I have (repro from 'back in the day, maybe?) that doesn't say Lucas on
them? No evidence of fins ever being there.

What is correct for the car?

Even the S1, S2, and Coupe Master Parts List shows the lens with the fins. I guess that's
what I'll get, repro or not.

What I would like to know is the correct orientation of the clear part of the lens. My guess would be down but the ones I have don't seem to want to point that way.

Any ideas?

Mine point either left or right, based on the mounting holes in the body.
