early C/R gearbox stamped EM 301 Sold

Hi,

I have a C/R gearbox built in late 1963, It has matching stamps on the main housing and on the tailshaft housing next to each other. Curious what they mean. I thought perhaps a rebuilder marking parts? Next question what is it worth? I am retired and trying to reduce the number of Lotus engines and gearboxs I have taking up shelf space. The funds will help my Son with his Elan project.

Interesting, I never noticed those. Need to check my extra CR gear boxes. The shift lever on yours is strange for a '63. Was the original lever broken and this was added?

The lever is from a +2.

Best box for an Elan, I'd be interested but it's the wrong side of the pond for me.
