CV's

bitten bullet and purchased a set of Kelvdon CV's.

nearing completion and a quick nosey at the donuts left me unsure of their condition so decided to swap out.

am i correct in thinking its a good time to change rear discs and pads?

also any tips for fitting without a lift set up?

looks like load is required on suspension from vids on internet so wondering if i can do this with car on axle stands under wishbone or Chapman strut?

any tips?

When working on the rear drive shafts I normally support the car body on hoist or jack stands then jack under the rear strut to reduce the droop as this makes fitting the CV or donut easier I find

i see, that way wheel can be raised or lowered to suit, thanks for tip :D

Just make sure you use good jack stands.

+ spread the load with a plank between Axle Stands and sill

One lesson learned after installation,

with my old struts on the rear when the body is lifted, and the wheels allowed to droop unsupported (tire ship), the angle on the CVs would tear the boots when rotated.. so either don't do that, or restrict the droop with shorter struts or some sort of restraint.. I went thru several sets of boots before finding the issue..

Make sure you mark the Diff end (if not marked by vendor) before you fit. I suspect they are new ?
This will ensure they always run in the same direction and bed in that way so if you ever remove them in the future they will be run in the correct rotation

stove, is yours an elan or +2? I've heard about angle issues with elan requiring droop stops or something but not on the +2

cvs are new from Kelvdon so assume the diff end is identifiable but will double check thanks
