Rear dampers inserts,Elan and Plus2

PostPost by: john.p.clegg » Thu May 30, 2013 6:14 am

Just a quickie, recently I've noticed comments about the rear dampers inserts for Elan and Plus2 for sale and with a note "not suitable for "the other" ", as far as I know there are two types of uprights Issue 18 and earlier, and they both take the same dampers, different springs maybe/more likely, but the same damper inserts, does anyone know any different?

Thanks

John

Damper inserts should be the same for both the Elan and Elan +2 unless they are racing units valved in a unique way.

I had a quick look at R&R page 54.
"The correcct Armstrong replacement inserts are colored blue and should not be confused with the heavier duty red-coloured ones supplied for use with +2 Elans"

I know they fit ... because my S3 has the red ones. I suppose by heavier duty they mean different rate.
