Hi Willem,
I have seen a repair kit for the original style coupling on-line somewhere but can't find it now.

Edit: Found some poly bushes (see also other link in post below........http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/steering- ... urethane-2

Replacement couplings are widely available in the UK ... try these.....

It's about time someone started making these in poly...

Willem,

I can't comment on the other suppliers, but I bought from Moss, and the quality is appalling, borderline dangerous.

I used a poly kit from Lotus Marques here in Australia. Kit quality was fine, but it's just a poor original design. Mine has slop in it already. Will be putting a proper uni joint in when I get the chance.

I've bought a UJ for the job, no play in it at all but of course, it isn't a CV joint. Will this be an issue, anyone tried one?

I had one for years , great mod , but had to grind it down a bit on the outsides before fitting as it was very close to the bottom hose.....adding lightness..

I've bought a number of those couplings over the years and always found the rubber didn't last long. About six or seven years ago I rebuilt one using 'washers' of rubber cut from fuel injection hose. That's on my car at the moment and working well. I tried taking another one apart to do the same but the bolts proved very difficult to undo and two of them sheared off. When the current one gives up I'll probably change it for a UJ type.
