Did Lotus send an engine to Weber for original setting up on their dyno or did Lotus do it in house? I remember when Chrysler were setting up their E49 chargers for Bathurst they sent a complete car to Weber.

That sort of static test bed picture certainly makes you think about making sure that there are no leaks in the fuel system!
Mind you a droplet would evaporate with the heat before it got anywhere but a spray.......!

I was under the impression that manufacturers often farmed out calibration to the carburettor firms, presumably on the basis of future sales paying for the development work.

Seems like I remember reading something somewhere that they loaded an engine in the back of car and drove it to Weber for calibration.

According to Miles Wilkins in his Twin Cam book Lotus had a test bed 1477cc twink in an Anglia which took a spare engine to Weber in Bologna for 'carburettor evaluation'.
The round trip took 10 days so Weber must have spent a week or so setting it up.

I guess this would have been a 1500cc early engine. I wonder if in 1970's they took an engine to dellorto's?
