No, no, that's the later type used as the dashboard lamp on the early cars.
Here's the correct one, good old fifties tin product.

Hmmmm ...... I think that Mark is correct, certainly that was the original as fitted to my 1965 S2.
The one shown by QMM looks like an old Austin lamp (but I am probably wrong about that) & I have never seen such a light on any S1 / 2 Elan.

Yep, I agree that Mark is correct. The other one is like the one fitted to my Scimitar.

Yes I also agree with Mark and it is also the same as the dashboard light......I believe they are Sparto lights.
If I remember correctly the other one shown was a Lucas light fitted on the classic Miini's and a host of other BMC cars of the time.

The service parts lists shows the dash courtesy light for the S1/2/3 and coupe to be the same as the rear number plate lamp on the S1 and S2, part number 036M6275. I believe this is consistent with Mark's posting and is what my S2 was fitted with.

Surely if it was used originally on the early cars it would have an 026 part number?
In good Lotus tradition everyone is probably right as Lotus probably used both on early car plus maybe others depending on what came to hand on the day
cheers

Per the Type26register who sells the gasket, it should be exactly the same as the dash light.

Thanks, guys, you've just blown my originality credentials!
Maybe Len Street fitted it after repairing it, as I deduced, just before I bought in 1969.
