May I have a slight whinge

PostPost by: 2cams70 » Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:07 pm

I notice that many people ask for help in these forums to diagnose various technical issues associated with their cars and many others respond with advice or suggestions as to the cause but never do they conclude the topic by saying how the problem, noise or other issue was eventually resolved!! Leaves us all guessing and doesn't help add to the knowledge base!! Even if the problem was never resolved it would be nice to know that also.

I agree, please give us the end of the story.
Anyone giving advice and suggestions is also learning, as we all are all the time.
There are also many people who do not contribute to the conversation at the time but learn from reading how the problem was solved.

This isn't really a whinge but if whatever problem you're wrestling with takes a considerable amount of time to resolve, or even if it doesn't get resolved, it can be hard to find the original topic in the archives. I've learnt not to bother with the forum search function but to use Google instead. It often finds the topic much more quickly.

A +1 for ending stories though. I often find myself looking up something only to find it finishes at the same point I'm stuck at.

Maybe posting a reply to this effect on all the unfinished stories one finds , will prompt the original poster ( or others ) to resolve any issues ??

+1 to the google search. Here's what I use: site:lotuselan.net xxxxxxx where the xx's is your search
criteria.

+1 to John's answer. I don't mind opening a can of worms again. To me, the problem is ongoing if there is
no resolution and I currently have the problem.

Mea culpa and I will conclude my 2017 problem threads in a few weeks (as I'm about to leave the country for a month)!
