Oulton Park Masters Festival today 12/3/11

PostPost by: RichardS » Sat Mar 12, 2011 9:15 am

Looks like a good meeting of 70s cars at Oulton today. http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/oulton-park/

Racing starts at 1240 - weather looks mixed so wrap up well!

My Sprint is temporarily off the road [fitting the proper Big Valve rocker cover].

Anyone else going - Pete, will you be snapping away?!

It was a very good meeting and nice to have such an event so early in the year. Its been colder and wetter in August than it was on Saturday.

Not many Loti parked up but plenty of E types around.

There were 5 races, lasting from 30 minutes to over an hour. It was great to see a red 26R chasing a TVR Griffith in the last race. I don't think the Lotus kept up with the TVR but stayed well ahead of a brace of E types, a Marcos and a 7 litre [I think] Corvette Stingray. I rather liked the idea of this race - half the race had to be driven by the owner of the car and the other half by another driver. Almost tempted to enter the Sprint next year.....!!!

Sorry, missed this post until just now! James Hadfield and Michael Schreiver(sp?).

The TVR had 4.7ltrs and eight cylinders.

Nice 4-wheel drift into Lodge corner here.

I see that the GT40 has been fitted with a Elan hand-brake.

Lost Lotus? The track goes left, he went his own way.

I'm very lucky in being able to get to places where other folks can't. This is the banked corner currently known as Shell Oils Bend but which to me will always be Esso.

Tenuous Lotus connection.
