Figured this group wouldn't mind if I posted a video I shot on Sunday of a bunch of friends who are Lotus/Caterham Seven enthusiasts. A couple of my friends sponsor this track & social event every year during Fourth of July weekend and I never seem to be around. This year I was able to accept their invite and thought I would shoot some video as I wasn't driving.

So What happened to the orange seven near the end?... cloud of smoke and stuff goes everywhere, looked like a blowout... I rewound to play that clip again but could not see what really happened.

A great collection of sevens...I have always wanted one to park next to the elan. Could think of nothing better than "fanging" a seven up to Mt Hotham (Victoria Australia) and back very early in the morning in the summer time.

The Seven in front of the orange car hit the large red cone that is placed on the outside edge of the curbing on the blind apex of the turn (so you know where you are steering towards) and it rolled into the track. It all happened in a millisecond and as the orange car came over and around the corner the cone was in front of him. He hit the cone with his front left wheel which put it in the air a bit ( these things are heavy) and hit him on the arm ( in between his roll cage) then hit his carbon fiber left rear wheel "fender" which immediately ripped off and tore out the wiring harness for the rear turn signal and brake light. There were pieces laying all over the track for the following cars.

The cone hit my friend so hard he had a large black and blue spot on his arm a couple of hours later. The roll cage prevented the cone from fully entering the cockpit. He was lucky. After the run group was over all the pieces were collected on the track and given back to him.

The previous shots of all the Sevens coming down a tight right hand turn is where it happened.

A friend of mine holds this three day Sevens event every year and Sevens from all over the country show up at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This year owners came as far as Colorado and Chicago. Great group and a fun time.

I have chased many Sevens in my Exige S track car. They are tough to pass with a skilled driver. Very nimble cars with an amazing amount of grip. One day I will own one.........

Fantastic way to get like minded people and cars together for lots of driving fun, and social catchup over two or three days.
