Hello All,

If anyone is going to Silverstone this weekend do you fancy meeting up to discuss the finer points of Lotusing? Any suggestions as to a good rendezvous point?

Regards

Jon

I'm planning to go tomorrow also.
Have tried to find out if anything Lotusy ws going on without any success. Now I know there is Lotus parking I will strongly consider taking mine.
I presume the parking in in the infield?
Who is organising this?
I know LDC wont be present officially & I haven't been able to contact Club Lotus today.
An answer ASAP would be great as I'm leaving the office shortly.
Have a good weekend
John

Hi Matt,

I'm probably going to be there on Sunday but I'm also interested in the Lotus parking... is it too late to arrange, who do you need to contact?

Thanks

The lotus parking is organised by club lotus if you ring them they may still have spaces and also you get your entrance ticket half price !

The above is assuming your a club lotus member

I have just phoned Club Lotus.
They have no more special passes for the allocated Lotus parking area.
I think I will just drive there & try my luck.

I will be there tomorrow with my S4 and good lady navigator. I am doing a run in with the Grand Touring Club, parking up on the infield. Hope to see you there 8)

I will be there on the stand. Going to give the beast a quick wash in a minute as I have been stuck on the dusty A12 for the past hour and a half.

It will take me about two hours to get there, I hear there are road works at Luton, none of you buggers nick my space if I am late :x

Hoping for a bit of rain tonight to cool it off a bit.

Should be a good day, just saw a news report on the telly, it looked very warm.

See you there :D

What a great day it was on Saturday.
The weather was just right some great racing & what sight for sore eyes all those cars & bikes were.
I managed to blag an infield pass from the newly re-formed Historic Lotus Club. They appear to be a friendly & knowledgeable bunch.
The Club Lotus area appeared to be unmanned, just parking spaces!
Club Elite had a good turn out as did the Lotus seven club and Lotus Cortina owners.
Clive Chapman was there with Historic team Lotus; there were also many other Mk's of Lotus racing there.
It was a hood up drive home due to the dark sky. Thank goodness it stayed dry, mines a pig to drive in the wet.
I just wish I could have gone again on Sunday!

Do you have some information on Historic Lotus Club? Perhaps they may be better than Club Lotus.

Ref. "The Historic lotus Club"

I only met them on Saturday.
I spoke to John Oakley, who is the club secretary.
Initially thought I was speakig to "The Lotus Historic Register" & asked if there were any other Lous stands where I could park my Elan thinking mine would be too young for them.
"Oh no, here's a pass go & get it now!"
was the immediate response.
Apparently there has been a parting of the ways & a number of people from "the register" have departed due to "Politics" (handbags at dawn) & have re-initiated this club.
John & his wife seem to be a very pleasnt people & were full of praise for Alan Morgan of "Club Lotus" with which they are forming a close association. They are also registered with the MSA for sprints, hill climbs & circuit racing.
My own personal oppinion; I have had contact with Alan & find him to be an extremely nice person. He is still finding his feet & I think "Club Lotus" will change for the better with his influence.
Membership details for "The historic Lotus Club" can be found on:-

[email protected]

or Tel. +44 (0) 1256 781116

They have already produced two very interesting club magazines & the third is due out shortly.

Disclaimer:- I have no specific relationship to any of the named clubs or club organisers apart from parting with my hard earned money to pay for membership
