Sir John Whitmore

Sad to read of the passing of Sir John Whitmore on 28 April at age 79. I don't know why I had not noticed this until the July issue of Motorsport arrived. He had quite a career in Lotus Elites and Cortinas in the early and mid 1960s, not to mention Ford GT40s. He was the guest speaker at our Lotus Owners Gathering No. 21 here in the US in 2001. There, I was fortunate enough to have an extended discussion with him, a thorough gentleman and wonderful story teller.
